A good night

{via}

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had problems sleeping. It’s not so much falling asleep, which still can take me forever, but staying asleep. The softest peep will wake me. Bad dreams will leave me shaking and staring at the ceiling. More often than not though, I just wake up. Sometimes I can fall back asleep, more often I’m left with racing thoughts that leave me wide awake. Just at the moment when I’ve lulled myself back to sleep, my alarm goes off.

I am tired. A lot. My doctor has recommended I quit coffee more than once but I sort of tuned it out. Nevermind that my body is crazy sensitive to caffeine*. I love coffee. My morning cup is a daily ritual that I look forward to. Still. Today I quit. In its place I drank a mixed berry, avocado and Amazing Meal smoothie. It was actually pretty delicious and supposedly good for me too?

And I haven’t stabbed anyone yet. Not even the guy who’s had 3 effing cups of coffee this morning**. I’m kinda proud of myself.

*If I have more than a small cup I get jitters, anxious and slightly faint.
**I sit next to the coffee machine. Boo.

That is definitely something to be proud of! I quit caffeine (I’m a pop-girl) a few months ago and I never looked back – however, I was on a serious amount of painkillers from having my wisdom teeth out so I give you some serious prop-age for doing it cold turkey. P.S. After quitting caffeine, not even a couple of nights later, I was actually TIRED for the first time, I think ever. It definitely helps with falling asleep at night, that’s for sure. Good luck!

Good for you!

Tony gave up coffee completely a few months ago, and stuck to it pretty well for several months. He’s back to drinking 2 cups in the morning, but it’s still a huge improvement. Also, he is a LOT less grumpy and tired when he wakes up in the mornings than he used to be. He even woke up before me on Sunday, which is pretty much unheard of.

Good luck!

Maybe try decaf? Unless giving it up cold works for you. I pretty much only drink decaf (or I should if I know what’s good for me) because my body is super sensitive to caffeine in coffee.

Good luck!

Yay! I’ve been limiting myself to coffee only on weekends, which so far is going well. I used to have a cup of coffee and a diet soda everyday. It made me exhausted by 3pm and for some reason I’d be up until 11PM. Go figure.

I once drank double brewed coffee at work. I needed a pick me up and didn’t realize the coffee was practically laced with crank. (It wasn’t really, but it sure felt like it!) I thought I was going to go into cardiac arrest. I was truly scared.

wow, good job! i’m super impressed. i have a serious coffee problem. i end up going to be ridiculously late as a result. luckily, i don’t wake up early, but if i ever have to, i’m going to have to kick the habit. good luck! (esp. since you’re right next to the coffee machine. will power.)
